God wove a web of loveliness
Of clouds and stars and birds,
But made not anything at all
So beautiful as words
~Anna H. Branch, Her Words

Qru Studios is proud to bring you this issue of Qru's News. Recently we have been involved in projects and negotiations which have come to fruition this past week. We are quite proud of our tradition and belief in assisting students with their studies through our sites and applications. That is what the Internet was meant to be and we support that ideal to its fullest. The recent recognition of Qru Studios by the corporate community will only help us fulfill our goal of bringing to the World Wide Web the most content-driven, informative sites possible utilizing latest technologies for the benefit of our viewers.

New Allies
Last last week Qru Studios Incorporated entered an agreement with American Information Systems (AIS) to provide web site design for W3.Net. This is a new hosting and Internet services project from AIS one of the largest Internet service providers in the Chicago area. The new affiliation is an initiative by AIS to expand the services that they offer and will be officially launched as of April first. In preparation AIS has been recruiting an elite group of design companies that meet their high standards of service and quality to outsource potential clients to, in return for hosting contracts. This partnership could lead to Qru Studios gaining increased recognition in the Internet community as well as an increase in potential earnings. This alliance will allow Qru Studios to offer an even greater range of hosting options and more scalable services to accommodate even the most demanding client needs.

On the LAN

In the Field
David Cole, Director of Special Effects at Qru Studios just finished an assignment with DDB Needham Interactive (a global World Wide Web and advertising agency they achieved the top five status in advertising by 1973, and are still going strong). On location he performed CGI programming, image processing and layout of Internet pages for popular high profile sites such as www.tyson.com (Tyson Chicken), www.yoursalon.com (Salon Select), and www.fritolay.com (Frito Lay).

Contest
Next week Qru Studios Incorporated will be hosting a contest with a cash prize. While the nature of the contest will not be revealed until Sunday, March 24th, we recommend that you become highly familiar with your playing field: qru.com, The KnowMadz, the Inner Outpost and Anticorp sites. It will take knowledge of all four sites to win. Have we wet your appetites yet?

On the See

Winnie-the-Pooh in VRML
Qru Studios has just constructed a web site dedicated to the Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh. What makes this site unique amongst other sites created by Pooh fans Web-wide is that it is the first that allows one to travel through the Hundred Acre Woods in VRML! David Sherrod author of one of the most renown "Pooh sites" and student of Franklin University is using this chapter of qru.com as part of a presentation for an MBA class, "Information Technology in a Global Economy." With our site he will be able to demonstrate how the entertainment industry will ultimately bring VRML usage, familiarity and acceptance to the home user, as it often does for many new technologies.

EarthWeb Chat
Due to infrequent usage of the Inner Outpost chat, Qru Studios has decided not to purchase the server software at this time, and has allowed the Webmaster, Inc. trial license to expire. Do not fear, the chat is not gone. We have replaced it with a publicly available client from EarthWeb. There are some disadvantages to this new system. This chat client understands fewer actual IRC commands and does not have administrative capabilities at present. However, administrative capabilities will be available sometime next month. The advantages are that we will be linked from EarthWeb's directory of services, hopefully providing the frequent userbase needed to keep the chatter going. EarthWeb Chat is the most popular Java chat network on the Internet. Hopefully, the Inner Outpost chat will become one of the most active chats on the Internet.

Client Side

The KnowMadz have just won the Ocean Tides Award for Excellence. This award is given out by a clan of Wiccans for "web sites that are particularly well done, combining information that is well presented along with a page that is well put together and esthetically pleasing!" The Circle of the Ocean Tides gives awards to encourage excellence in web page design. Sites need not be Pagan in nature to receive an award.

Fiduciary Trust
Updates have been completed for Fiduciary Trust's site. They have added several new offices worldwide and the site revisions will now reflect the additions as well as several minor esthetic and updates to prior material. For the next quarter we will be adding their 1996 annual report as well as more detailed information on several of their international locations and other departments.
