Qru's News is weekly publication so check here frequently for more important information and updates.

Issues from VOL 1 were analog and burned in the blaze so we cannot provide you with those.

Due to popular demand Qru Studios now has a newsletter. For those who are new to our site, Qru is a web site design firm specializing in multimedia production. Our own sites are constantly being updated to include our new capabilities. This newsletter gives our regular visitors a way to find what's new without having to look through everything.

Top of the News

We received two awards for site of the week last week. Starting Point voted www.qru.com a Hot Site, featured on 1/19/97. Our new Vampire Gallery was the first site to receive the honor in the new site of the week section of the Vampire Yellow Pages.

In Contact

We have joined forces with a new ISP and now can offer more to our clients at a lower cost than we could with MegsINet. We get great service with all the multimedia extras we need (VRML, MIDI, CGI and everything else you can think of). We have also reestablished contact with Noah Simon, a founding member of Qru Studios. Currently attending Carnegie Melon University, Noah will be consulting with us on the bleeding edge of experimental computer technologies.

On the LAN

We have just installed the Sybase SQL database server for a 60 day battery of tests. If everything works out with that we will be offering new remote intranet database services to our clients in the near future. Also waiting in the wings for installation on our test bed is Intranet Builder © from Borland

Now on-line almost 24-7 the Beast is Serving an HTTP server on a dynamic IP as well as an FTP server. please send e-mail to info@qru.com for more information about how to get privileged access if you are an extended member or client of Qru.

On the See

Our own site has undergone some major changes in the past few weeks. We just posted the Inner Outpost on its own domain. If you have not visited yet, the Outpost is our Internet space station. As our tribute to our clients, we have links to all of them there along with such features as a tour of our clients sites and a VRML world that links to all of the domains we have designed. David Cole has added a JavaScript floating menu and a maximize function to the Inner Outpost enabling the viewer to remove the top several icons and menu's from their browser for maximum visibility in the Outpost. Maps have been added for easier navigation. We are also offering new advertising and hosting features.

We now have an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channel on the undernet. For those that don't know, Internet Relay Chat is a technology for realtime text based conversation and free exchange of ideas. In order to get to ours you need mIRC or Pirch, available through Shareware purveyors Internet wide for a multitude of providers. Our channel is #Inner Outpost. Here you can meet Servil and Hoover from The Inner Outpost. Members of The KnowMadz frequent this location too even though they can be found at #the_KnowMadz just as often. Although not an officially registered channel with the Undernet, we hope to see it grow. In the future we plan to integrate chat on a web page, blending these technologies with VRML and voice relay chat for a most exciting visit to the Inner Outpost.

Just posted is the award winning Vampire Gallery. Currently all work and research was done by Tate Madler but we will be accepting original works of fact, fiction or artwork concerning vampires to be posted at the editors discretion. To make a contribution send e-mail to tate@qru.com

The newest editions to our library include: Isaac Newton, The Illyrian Adventure and The Tattooed Potato and other Clues... Happy reading!

Client Side

Our most recently completed job was for Chicago Gaelic Park, a not-for-profit organization. After much discussion with their board, we have put up a site for them complete with statistical information, music, and custom retouched photographs. You can visit them from the Inner Outpost as well. Other recent additions include a page for Pat Cloonan and his new CD "Thanksgiving" and recently provided consultation for Fuel, a zine published by Anaconda Press and edited by Andy Lowry.

Feedback

"Hello! I stumbled across The Anticorp Page which led me to the Knowmadz in turn which led me to Qru. I enjoyed browsing the sites so I added a link on my page to them."--Douglas Norton www.megsinet.com/douglas/

"Interesting manifesto you have there..."--Charlie Ward, Vice President Marketing, EnterAct L.L.C. www.enteract.com

"I looked at your site, all the artwork, and I loved it! You are, as I'm sure you know, very artistically talented. I want to link up your site, but I'm not sure where to put it Although it is perfectly executed, it doesn't seem like a Yellow Pages site. But I think it deserves more recognition than just a "one of many" listing on the White Pages."--From:Sabine (Vampire Yellow Pages) www.cclabs.misouri.edu/~c667539/vamps.html

"So who or what is "Butch"? Nice site, but is the picture of you a true rendering?"--Andy Cawthon, Neoglyphics, www.neog.com
