NETOPIA ROUTER GOES UP

Negotiations and persistance won out, leading to bonding channels with our dial up provider. The Studio adopted a Dual 56K Router for nailed up backbone connection. Dial in to NT domains via RAS will be available for WAN connectivity, using fixed IP blocks and DHCP dynamic assignment.

The router was made by Netopia, and several Qru contingents all chipped in. Netopia sells web hardware and the popular Timbuktu Pro remote desktop control suite. Now our studio connection the internet is seprate from our file servers, preventing denial of service originating from the "required reboots" windows is known for.

Local telnet directly into the router provides an access point for configuration. In fact Tate helped detect a defective router by probing the depths of its menu screen. It looks like a BIOS but it's more extensive and can bond 56K channels!
