JokeBase Tech Note
The JokeBase began it's life as a collection of files converted from e-mail forwarding, a practice growing in net circles.
Since most e-mail programs impose a fixed coulum width, and most e-mail forwarding "quotes" a message by indenting it at least 3 character spaces from the left of the lines , the converted files are filtered with regular expressions to heal the mistaken line and sentence breaks.
A .jok file extension was indoctrinated, header and navigational image sets were created, one for each topic.
Matt Smith supplied the source art at ample resolution. David placed the final optimized rasterizations of images into the a CGI form structure, converted it to an embedded forum, and made a flat HTML page generator. Christine wrote the disclaimer page, Tate processed the table until it fit all screen resolutions and browsers. The final render was the collaboration of 4 studio members, and the many nuggets of data you have forwarded us.
Like all new Qru Scripts, creation of flat pages for search engines and an administrative interface to simplify updates were included in the functional specs. This script began as a whim - a "wouldn't it be cool if..." kind of idea. Congratulate AuntiPro for an additional instance of actually doing something. The familiar urging of the KnowMadz made them finally ready to get around to it.
