"How many people hunted for Easter eggs on the first Easter? It takes time for any kind of celebration to catch on."
~James Muhammad, editor, Nation of Islam newspaper

Even in the world of Qru Studios things are not always as easy as we usually make them seem. We have undergone several hardships this week but to our benefit we are emerging from them as an even stronger force than before. Work is continuing and more is coming in. A little change of scene seems to be doing all of us well.

Current Issues
In news relevant to Qru Studios and everyone in the computer industry, the Federal government is sanctioning Microsoft to the tune of $1 Million for each day that it refuses to revoke discounts for including the Internet Explorer Internet browser from the Windows '95 operating system package. The Department of Justice charges that Microsoft is in violation of antitrust agreements and the 1995 court order under which Microsoft agreed not to require manufacturers to obtain licenses for other products as a condition to receive the Windows license. "Forcing PC manufacturers to take one Microsoft product as a condition of buying a monopoly product like Windows '95 is not only a violation of the court order, but it's plain wrong," stated Attorney General Janet Reno. The struggles between the Federal government and Microsoft are not new. Microsoft was first investigated by the Federal Trade Commission in 1990 for unfair practices. At Qru Studios we think it is important to state for the record that although we do use the Microsoft operating systems, we do not support the Internet Explorer except for testing purposes. We encourage others to also support alternate browsers for the benefit of a wider scope of possible direction for the Internet. Only through our actions will our voices be heard and we can put a damper on the Microsoft dynasty.

Cybre Tree
The Cybre Tree may already be up! After a series of delays, we have secured the domain name as well as a host for the site. With the final posting planned for Monday, we should have it up by the time you get home from work and are settling in to read your E-mail and discover all of the new things that have happened over the day.

Soon to Come
Next week we will be posting US AND THEM on the KnowMadz site. This section is dedicated to alternative forms of artistic expression including fringe music groups and zine publications. If your mind is open to new possibilities, if your horizons expand beyond the confines of pop culture, stop by for a visit. We will accept suggestions for any artist who's work should be included in this section. We encourage those with local followings to take advantage of this site and consider getting their own section. Stay tuned for our most on the edge section yet.

In preparation of yet another workstation (name to be announced) for Stacia, our newest member, we have purchased an AOC monitor from our friends at Microtech. Its mere 14" shows a wonderfully crispy display with high contrast and a bright screen. Built in speakers add to the features of the monitor. It is only a short time before the rest of the computer materializes from the parts we have and a few soon to be acquired essentials. We have also received a monitor from Madler & Peldyak as a donation from their excess stock.

What We Breathe
Ever wonder about the air around you? To give you a little information to get you started Hardcorp has added carbon, nitrogen and oxygen to their Periodic Table. These are the precious elements without which life would be impossible. The only other element so vital to life is hydrogen, and they posted that one last week.

Client Side
Jewels
A long time luddite and reseller of new and antique jewelry has decided to take the plunge into the World Wide Web. We have just posted her test site displaying a small collection of jewelry in time for the Christmas rush. Entitled Jewels For Your Jewel, the single page is currently posted on the Inner Outpost. If all goes well, she hopes to expand her services into a full domain site offer a full line of jewelry for all occasions.

Training continues for the folks affiliated with Madler & Peldyak. The lawyers are proving to be naturals at adapting to their new system after overcoming several initial hurdles and a very steep learning curve. We have neared completion of what should be the last upgrade, but of course, where more work exists, more work will be done. Next on the agenda, bringing one machine up from 8 to 24 MB of RAM, making it possible to run the latest software, a new Hewlett Packard printer, and installing a dual boot on Griffin.

We are constantly updating our site or developing our skills in a new technology. The best way to stay informed is to check out our newsletter every Monday. If you want to receive Qru's News right in your E-mailbox each week sign up on our mailing list
