Notes From You

"She knows there's no success like failure, and a failure's no success at all."
~Bob Dylan

This week's issue of Qru's News is being brought to you from the offices of Kreative Web Solutions. In a long overdue meeting between our two companies, I am working from their New York location. Enjoy the newsletter and we hope to bring you more joint efforts between our two companies in the future.

Kreating Alliances
Christine Patterson, our Director of Special Projects, is in New York to meet with our friends at Kreative Web Solutions. Current projects with Kreative Web Solutions include the Cybre Tree. That is undergoing a temporary delay as we have to find a new host for the domain. We expect that this problem will be remedied this week. Talks focused on strengthening the alliance between our two companies expanding the market area for both of us.

LANs End
Qru Studios will receive the old Novell network from Madler & Peldyak as soon as the file conversion to the new system is complete. This was once a state of the art system including 386s, boasting raid arrays, up to 8 MB of memory and a number of other advanced tools of the times. It may be included in our current network as an experiment in cross genre networking for specialized systems.

The Studios acquired a Beta video recorder on Wednesday at an amazingly low cost. Betamax was a proprietary video standard created by Sony over ten years ago which greatly surpasses the quality of standard VHS. Beta has since become a professional standard and such equipment generally costs in the range of $2-4000. By coincidence, we also received a video capture card to replace our old one an ATI Graphics Turbo (Mach64) video card hosting 4 MB of video ram provided by David Cole this very week. The video card will allow for resolutions of 1280x1024 in 24 bit or nearly 17 million colors. We look forward to using this card to its utmost potential in modeling and graphics design for our sites. The additional video card will allow us to construct another machine in almost no time at very little cost. This will be used for training and data entry as well it will be add to the studio LAN pages as soon as it is built.

We have received a registered copy of Visual Interdev, a Microsoft server and programming environment allowing us to offer better service to our clients through an increased skill base. Also in the door is Informix, a database oriented system that integrates with Perl and the Microsoft tools. Both of these programs were provided by David Cole.

Client Side
LawLAN
Griffin, a fully stocked pentium 133 still running Windows 3.11 was able to join the other other computers on LawLAN to allow for client server operations between the accounting and legal departments of Madler & Peldyak after a near mystical installation of appropriate protocols and services.

Two segments of LawLAN are now enjoying the vast expanse of the Internet without a router. This greatly decreases their costs and allows maximum proficiency using a 56k connection for three computers to enter the Internet using a single modem. this setup was also installed at Homework, a home extension of the same network. Also eliminated was the print hub for use of 2 Hewlett Packard printers through the use of networking services. All installations were done by Tate Madler in only a few hours. Homework will be added to sWAN by the end of the week.
