Tech Tips

No, try not. DO or do not, there is no try.
~Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back

We would like to extend our hearty thanks to Tate Madler, our Creative Director, for his field work these past few weeks. Due to his diligent efforts we have met with several new and potential clients this week. He has a unique ability to get people who have never heard of us to look at our work. From that point who wouldn't love us? So we have been very busy with meetings and work for clients. With all the work coming in for clients we will be limiting expansion of our own sites. While we will still inform you of updates as they happen, our "On the See" section may not be a regular column from here on out. We have also extended the Easter Egg Hunt another week. It seems that people were attempting to answer our clues rather than just sending the clues to us. There are still prizes left so get looking and win!

Hosting Service offered by Qru on the Inner Outpost
Beginning April 1 the Inner Outpost will be offering hosting services. Fulfilling our original plans for the Outpost, we have set the site up as a launch pad for other sites to reach the Internet. Offering a hosting package at $35 monthly complete with 10 megs of space, one forwarded E-mail address, CGI, MIDI, and VRML capabilities as well as daily statistical information, this is a deal that can not be passed up. We also have hosting options for large companies with several domains available. Please call for a quote on our corporate packages.

The Gallery
The The Know Madz Gallery is an on-line museum containing work by all of the Qru members. Each person has their own wing to show off their most unique work. The range of work reflects the diverse personalities of the Qru with a Vampire section, Winnie-the-Pooh, ASCII art in the Pre Gallery and a collection of artwork by the original KnowMadz and a collection of original artwork by Noah Simon, the self-professed Howard Stern of the Internet. With such an eclectic arrangement there is sure to be something to suit everyone's tastes.

On the LAN
Fiduciary Trust
We are currently constructing a human resources section of Fiduciary Trust's site to be posted in late April. This will be the ninth site revision to the site. Also to be added at that time are second quarter reports, the 1996 annual report, financial services, and tracking of some of the funds they offer. You will also notice some enhancement to the graphical content of the site.

True Space 3
Qru Studios has just ordered Truespace 3 as an upgrade from Pioneer Pro, our favourite 3d modeling program. This new version of Truespace will enable us to greatly enhance our VRML capabilities. Using VRML 2 conversion standards we will be able to bring you moving worlds. With animation capabilities including forward dynamics which gives objects weight and elasticity and wind reactions coupled with inverse kinematics that simulates joint movements in creatures and object, we can create worlds with realistic movements within our VRML worlds. While we will be keeping VRML 1 standards until compatible browsers become available to the public, at some point this year we will be upgrading all of our VRML worlds to the VRML 2 standards. So sit back and prepare for the Internet ride of your life!

Client Side
Monday
Creative Director Tate Madler met with Joanne Gucwa of Technology Management Associates on Monday. Technology Management Associates provides businesses with research, information and consultation in areas of management, marketing, environment, technology, and location. They are enthusiastic about recommending their clients with Internet and Web needs to Qru Studios. This arrangement is unique because Technology Management does not ask for a commission on referrals. This is an exceptional opportunity for us to make contact with a number of new clients in the manufacturing, governmental, educational and professional services as well as institutions and associations.

Tuesday
On Tuesday we made contact with Tezcat Communications Inc., a multilingual and reliable Internet service provider local to Chicago. No appointments were needed as URL's (or Internet locations) of Qru work were requested via E-mail for analysis and a reply in about a week. Approximately 45 minutes later we received a zealous letter of acceptance.

Wednesday
Our second meeting with Cenflo, Inc. yielded great results. Equipt with the Phoenix (our notebook computer) Tate Madler demonstrated for them a nearly complete version of their site with less than a week of development time. Also discussed was our innovative corporate hosting package as well as the installation of a proxy network server enabling Internet access to the entire LAN through one dial-up connection. The situation is still blooming and looking quite good for final approval from the upper management over at Cenflo.

Thursday
An initial meeting with the Greatful Bread Company Thursday lead to their acceptance of our logo design for their company Saturday. Marketing such trend-setting recipes as 24 Carrot Gold Cake, Happy Tie Die, Blind Date nut, and Sexy Cinnamon, they are sure to appeal to baby-boomers and neo-hippies. We hope that their home made treats end up on he shelves of delicatessens and specialty shops everywhere.

Friday
The owners of Adore-A-Pet saw the preliminary drawings if the comic strip, accepting with great enthusiasm. With finishing touches in progress it won't be long before Wiggles and Dr. J appear on the logo of Xylatol products with future appearance on their web site.
