Energy is high at Qru Studios. Plans for our upcoming public Intranet are falling nicely into place and we expect to have that up and running in the near future. The Internet Expo confirmed our suspicions that we are right on top of the industry. Appointments are being made with potential clients. Even as we work to expand into systems consultation opportunities abound. Old friends are proving to be valuable resources and we are on top of the world. |

Internet Expo '97 This summer's Internet Expo was in Chicago for three days this week. All of the local Qru members were there meeting people, studying industry trends and getting our name out in the open. At the Expo we ran into many old friends who are excited about what we have been doing recently and are eager to work with us. We got ourselves onto a couple of beta testing programs and will be posting our thoughts on the software we test on Tech Tips on our Intranet. We are also talking with a gentleman from Fujitsu about one of their high end servers. We did learn that at Qru we are developing customizable versions of what the industry wants. So if you are planning on getting one of those prefabricated programs with many options you don't need and lacking a few you do, call us and see if we can give you exactly what you want. |

The Name Game The response to naming our new machine has been wonderful. With so many great suggestions we are overwhelmed at the thought of choosing one by ourselves. The best responses are as follows: Burden, Charibdis, Colossus, Fnord, Giza, Gudea, Hal, Knowmadrome, Megalith, Neolith, Rhombus, Ur, and V-ger. You all did a wonderful job in pulling from history, mythology and science fiction - obviously friends of Qru are very intelligent people indeed. Please send us your votes for the best name for our new machine. The LAN Pages on qru.com currently have it named "TBA" so we have to have your votes in soon, or it may remain To Be Announced for longer than temporarily. |

Parts We are completing hardware acquisition for our new machine. Over the course of the week we get a 200MHz CPU that went into the Obelisk late Friday. Its previous 166 will be going on to augment The Beast expectant to go PCI bus over the next several weeks. The final Piece of the Obelisk before going global will be the addition of 64MB of RAM. We also promoted two new network cards made by Kingston, and purchased at Microtech U.S.A. Now all of our network cards are capable of peer-to-peer Ethernet connections or later to be hub connections which will be necessary as we add more machines to the LAN and install an IP router. |

New LAN Pages Just as we have been upgrading our LAN these past few weeks, we have been upgrading our LAN Pages for qru.com. As everything is falling into place we have posted the new LAN pages so you can see exactly what we have collected. All of the specs have been posted in an easy to read format and the new machines are there in all of their 3d glory. Be sure to check out the LAN in VRML as well. |
