A host of enemies encircle me and attack. Thinking of them as a single foe I wage the battle.
~Morihei Ueshiba

We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you that responded to our last newsletter. For both your sent condolences on our lost machine and for suggesting names for our new machine we appreciate your interaction with our development. It is good to know that you are on our side. Many things are in progress here as we are in process of making our intranet available for public use. Read further for the whole story on that.

Top of the News

New Program
Two freelance programmers have just joined the forces of Qru. Corey Schneider of HECL Inc.. and George McMullen of Kreative Web Solutions, both former colleagues of Qru members, have agreed to proactively assist us with our programming needs. This will bring a number benefits; Qru will have a greater knowledge and skill base at our disposal as well as the ability to respond more rapidly to our clients needs plus expanding our network of friends and the flow of information. This is especially important as our workload is increasing and our programming needs grow. We look forward to exchanging business and ideas with these two talented programmers.

CHAT
The Webmaster IRC CHAT has been re-posted on the Inner Outpost a week ahead of schedule due to the immediate need for better, faster communications with our national and international constituents. While it looks very similar to our original posting of this CHAT, the administrative interface has been vastly improved. These improvements as well as the use of our fixed IP will make communications much faster and smoother than the previous version.

On the LAN
Namespace Available
Parts are currently being gathered, shipped and ordered for our new multimedia machine. Where the name is concerned there are two names sent in that we are particularly fond of. The first of which Fnord, described as the source of all the zero bits in your computer but it actually has a great number of definitions. For a you may check this link. the other being UvBurden to compliment Beauty and the Beast we found particularly clever and original. We are still accepting ideas though. Let us know what you think of these names, or send in your ideas for a name if you want the notoriety of knowing that you named a Qru machine.

Auditioning ACT!
We have received a trial version of ACT!, a professional level customer and calendar manager. This is the premier software used by most businesses. After a trial period if we find that ACT suits our needs we will be purchasing the software. Either way we will put our evaluation of the software on Tech Tips, a section of our site that will soon be added to our intranet, so others can benefit from our constant research.

On the See

Intranet 2.0
In preparation of expanding our intranet usage, we have given it a new look and feel. The main reason for this is to enable different levels of access to our various intranet users as well as promoting simpler navigation. We are also in process of organizing over 6 Gigabytes of information to be made available through our intranet. At this time only Qru members have access to our intranet. The revamped intranet will include Tech Tips and the Tech Tips forum, projects previously put on hold for a time being, so that our subscribers can have their questions answered by one of our programmers or technicians. Future plans also include subscriptions for access to web developers enabling more people to gain from our prolific research and development. Our subscribers will have FTP, HTTP, IRC available to them for long distance discussions as well as a plethora of otherwise rarely supported mime types for maximum benefit to our subscribers.

Client Side
New Outlook
Updates have come in from Fiduciary Trust Company. Every quarter they publish an economic outlook for U.S. and world economies for their clients. Since they posted their web site this privileged information has been available via the Internet. If you are looking for practical information on economic trends and investment strategy for today's economy, stop by their site. Get your information from those "in the know" about global investment.

Singapore
Negotiations with our new friends in Singapore are going strong. We expect that we will have more information on that side as work is planned to come in some time in early August. Meanwhile, you can look into Wired Magazine's latest issue for an article pertaining to Malaysia and the advance of technology in South East Asia to better understand the impact of such an advance for the Qru's marketplace.

Copping Clients
Two Detectives from the Cicero Police Department stopped by our studio to show mugs of suspects that may have been involved in the theft of David Cole's computer. After seeing our facilities for Internet development and being somewhat overwhelmed, they enthusiastically suggested talking over the development of a web site for their police station with their superiors. They stated their specific need of changing the poor reputation of the Cicero Police Department which developed in the 1920's in the days of prohibition and Al Capone. They have something at stake and the Qru assures them, that we can do them justice online.

Wholesale Resale
Qru Studios has been propositioned by a third party to go into computer hardware re-selling. Qru has always provided systems consultation to our clients. As resellers, we will be able to offer clients systems that best suit their needs at competitive prices. Tate Madler, our Creative Director, is particularly interested in this opportunity as he tends to purchase large amounts of hardware tends.
