Tech Tips

The better you look, the more you see.
~Pee Wee Herman

We have had a very dynamic week here at Qru Studios. The background for qru.com received mixed reviews, we posted the comments below and request that you take a look at our site and send us your feedback. On the positive side we will be hosting a new domain on our server, have posted the new Adore-A-Pet site and are in negotiations with a company in Singapore (read on for details). We have also just sustained a great loss as Spawn, our long distance workstation belonging to David Cole, was just stolen from his place of residence by two unarmed robbers today. Since David was able to post his work over our intranet, we at least were able to salvage most of the work though recovering from the loss of the machine will be harder to overcome.

Top of the News

Our LAN
Due to good planning and forethought we are in a position to purchase another computer with minimal investment to help us overcome the recent loss of Spawn. The new computer will be dedicated to multimedia. Our video and audio production as well as printing and scanning of images will be handled through this machine. The one problem is that we do not have a name for it as of yet. Since you are a big part of our continued success, we invite you to send your suggestions for a name for the new computer to info@qru.com. Obscure names should be sent with an explanation of the term so we can best choose a name that will suit the personality and purpose of the new machine.

Featuring...

Adore-A-Pet On-Line
The new Adore-A-Pet site has been approved and is posted. We invite all of you to visit the most recent incarnation of Adore-A-Pet complete with order forms, pet tips, and information about Xylitol. As modifications to the printed material come through over the course of the week we will be making some minor changes on the site. Future additions to the site include a shopping cart system that will enable visitors to purchase pet gift baskets and Xylitol products while browsing the site.

On the LAN
Chat
With our fixed IP in place, the WebMaster CHAT will be returning to the Inner Outpost in just two short weeks. The advantages to using the WebMaster CHAT are that it is Java run and can be used through any Java enabled browser as well as through mIRC, a popular chat program. It understands mIRC commands which can make communication easier and more lively and it will be run off of our own server. The CHAT will only be available for a limited time so take advantage of it while it lasts. With your support we will be able to keep it going forever.

More on the LAN
With the reshuffling of hardware that we are undergoing at this time, we are in process of updating our LAN pages on qru.com. We are reformatting the pages making our specs laid out in a more easy to read manner. Also to be added are the several computers that are a part of our WAN (Wide Area Network), bringing a more complete knowledge of the scope of our company to the public. As new equipment comes in the changes will be made with a grand opening of our new LAN pages in the next few weeks.

On the See

Resumes
With so much going on here at Qru we have realized the necessity to update our resumes. We have added many skills to our repertoire and have worked with several companies both individually and as a studio. For up to date information on what Qru members can offer you, take a look at our new resumes and see if we have the skills that your company needs for you Web and intranet needs.

Client Side
Anaconda
Qru Studios will be posting anaconda.com, the website for Anaconda Press. Anaconda is the company that brings us Fuel magazine four times a year. While the Fuel pages can currently be found on-line, we all feel that it is time to bring you the full scope of the work put out by Anaconda. Stay tuned for new updates on this exciting project.

Singapore
On Monday Qru Studios was contacted by a company in Singapore that is interested in our design capabilities after seeing the Inner Outpost. We are currently in negotiations with them and have laid the groundwork for a contract. As negotiations are still in the works and we have not yet finalized a contract we cannot as of yet reveal the identity of the company but we can divulge that they do business in Europe with contingent agencies in the United States. Keep up with future Qru's newsletters for more information on this exciting prospect.
