Notes From You

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.
~Kurt Vonnegut

Productivity is high here at Qru Studios. We are working on several projects right now and everything is developing rapidly. Our recently made alliances are proving to be symbiotic relationships, enabling all parties to take on more work than previously possible and extending the skillbase for everyone. Former competitors are now fellow QRUsaders and our most daunting obstacles have become our greatest opportunities. With several new initiatives taking off with a bang, you are sure to hear some very exciting news over the course of the next month and beyond.

Top of the News

Direct Dial-in
In a move that will enable all Qru members, regardless of location, to work on the same network, Qru Studios is doing intensive testing on direct dial-in networking and Windows Internet Name Server services. Already in functional stages, Qru computers are able to share information from anywhere in the world. With internal direct CHAT capabilities already in place, communication has been greatly improved. These advances will enable Qru members to share information and work simultaneously on a project with greater ease. Developers stay on the lookout for further advances, if this works out we may even be able to offer local dial-up Internet access through the iNTRAport.

New News
Qru's News has a new on-line look. We have added a front page using rotating "Notes From You" to attract first time readers and are soon to be adding a search engine so you can look for particular keywords on topics of interest. Signing up for subscriptions as well as sending us your thoughts have been given more prominence and made even easier. We have also tweaked several aspects of the newsletter that are relatively transparent but lead to overall greater consistency and ease of use. This model will serve as a prototype for publication of Tech Tips. Take a look and tell us what you think of our new Qru's News.

On the LAN
Beast is Roaring
After extensive research of compatible parts, with the valuable help of Microtech USA, we have finally gotten the Beast up and running again. It running faster than it has ever run before and truly deserves the name Beast. With all of our machines in working order, we are ready to move into our next phase of business, soon to be collocating Obelisk, our server, which now has a whopping 128 Megs of RAM, off site for greater flexibility.

MP Chicago
A new administration company known as MP Chicago has come on board as an ally and client. Straight out of Loyola University, this duo is looking to do server and site administration and is happy to collaborate with Qru. Over the next couple of weeks you will hear more details about the first product of this consortium, a site for a night club in Chicago. We are always happy to work with new people and are thrilled with the relationships we have formed in just 11 months since we have been in Chicago.

Testing Mijenix
Some in house testing of the Mijenix program Powerdesk uncovered some unique problems. Pointing these out to the company via E-mail lead to an exchange of information and an offer to be on their beta testing program for their next release scheduled for October. Our thorough investigation not only brings us more perks, we will post knowledge gained on the iNTRAport. All subscribers will have the benefit of first hand practical experience with yet to be released software due for general distribution in October.

On the See

Oh Tannenbaum
The cybertree project, an on-line Christmas tree started by the Aunti Productive League, has been picked up by Qru Studios. The Cybertree is being created in concert with Kreative Web Solutions, a design company in New York, and will be hosted by Reynolds Enterprises, an ISP outside Philadelphia. Last year Geocities had an immensely popular Christmas tree that was neither as interesting nor as beautiful as our hand designed, highly interactive tree. We are currently seeking sponsorship for this exciting and high profile project. Please contact Qru Studios at info@qru.com for a sneak preview.

Chattin' it Up
Take another trip to the Webmaster CHAT on the Inner Outpost. Faster than E-mail, cheaper than a long distance phone call, CHAT is a communications technology of the future, today. Meet people from other countries, or a next door neighbor you never knew before. With full IRC capabilities as well as sound (no voice unfortunately), communication is richer than flat text. So stop by for a visit and chat a while.

Client Side
WebSlides
After some unforeseeable access problems, work with WebSlides is well under way. Early this week we will be installing and testing a forum, a rotating banner and a linkbase on their site. This will be one of our most high-tech sites ever. As soon as everything is in place we will be inviting you all for a visit.

For Our Clients
In the midst of a most productive week at the Studio, we found the time to get in a few minor alterations for Fiduciary Trust Company, Adore-A-Pet, Ltd., and Chicago Gaelic Park. While these changes may be transparent to the average visitor, we always strive to give our clients excellence and will stop short of nothing to meet their needs and requests.

Notes From You
"Your Linkbase kicks the hell out of that little Add a Link page :-) I like the setup, in that it takes you to a different page for each category. And by taking you to a different page it also takes you to a different Random Banner. Very Nice :-)"
~Sam Torres, Futurenet

We are constantly updating our site or developing our skills in a new technology. The best way to stay informed is to check out our newsletter every Monday. If you want to receive Qru's News right in your E-mailbox each week sign up on our mailing list
