The Jewish people are the descendants of A'bram, later renamed Abraham (father of nations) by G-d. They follow the belief of Abraham that there is one G-d and worship Him in the way that Abraham was taught. Jews also follow the teachings of Moses who who spoke to G-d on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments and freed the Jewish people from their enslavement in Egypt and led them back to the land of Israel. The holy writ consists of the Torah (the five books of Moses) which are the first five books of the Old Testament, and the Talmud, an explanation of the Torah written by the great Priests and Rabbis millennia ago.
