Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel; which being interpreted is, God is with us.

Matthew 1:23

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16
The Cross
The main belief in Christianity is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Promised Messiah. Jesus came to earth to teach the Word of God and ultimately gave up His life on the cross as the final and most great Sacrifice. By sending us His only Son and giving His life for us on the cross, God enabled all those who believed in Jesus Christ to be saved and given eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
