big world though not big enoughfor trance-like bread& fish litmus test. i dutch-rubthe mystic's head playfully
& leapfrog stacks of bibles. my prayers are pasted in the
strangest places, in bygone eras filled with quaint but
necessary evils & on the other side of the tracks where
aspiring saints see visions on water towers, cereal boxes
& stained glass erotica. i've yeto stray far from human
enchantment so i plead innocence.who has time to chase
after corn-fed folly whose everystep forward is two steps
sideways glance while shaking staff at shrink-wrapped
nine-tenths of the law? this lily of the field disturbance
is contagious. i find myself polishing ordinary household
utensils with religious fervor, making up songs that sound
absolutely essential, building superhuman appendages without
blueprints or nietzchean designs, speaking with the tongue
of multitudes while holed up alone, in heaven.
